To order legal number plates in the UK, you’ll need to provide documents that prove your identity and your right to use the registration number. This is required by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency.

🚗 Proof of Entitlement (one required)

This shows you’re allowed to use the registration number:


  • V5C logbook (vehicle registration certificate)

  • V750 certificate of entitlement

  • V778 retention document

  • Reminder to renew your vehicle tax or SORN (V11)

  • Temporary registration certificate (V379)
